Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire, a quiet neighborhood in the West Island of Montreal is one of those "sleepy" location. This West Island, to those who have never heard of it, is a large region that runs from Lachine to the west. Amanda Brugel's birthplace has been frequently mentioned, but her brief stay was not. Brugel grew up in Courtice close to Oshawa Ontario. She initially wanted to become an actress, but after a sudden growth spurt her partners were no longer able to dance with her. According to an article in the Toronto Star, she revealed her height in heels as 6 foot 1 inches tall. Once I outgrew male partners and gave up, I decided to give up. A lot of former dancers go on to act. In the case of Brugel it was because of the advice of her drama teacher at her high school which pushed her to the path she wanted. A teacher suggested that she audition for an annual school play. She was able to audition and be cast in the role of Anne of Green Gables. The Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she was a theatre student and earned the Bachelors in Fine Arts in the year 2000. The career of Brugel spans more than 20 years and she's performed in more than 60 shows including big screen productions and on smaller ones. Her most notable role was the one of Rita (pictured in the below photo) in the television show The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel made an appearance on only a handful of moments in the very first season of the series The Handmaid's tale. The only Canadian participant.
